Basic Texas Hold'em Rules
Basic Texas Hold'em Rules
Texas Hold'em can be described as a community game. This means that all cards are dealt face down in the middle of a table. Each player receives two of their pocket or hole cards. These cards are compared with five community cards in order to form the best possible five card hand.
The dealer button is given to the player who is dealt first. The button is passed clockwise to next player after the hand ends.
Blinds placed
Poker hands are usually started with some form of forced gambling. This is to ensure that every hand is active. Two blinds is used to play Hold'em. This refers to a bet placed before the pocket cards are dealt. Blind betting begins with the players to the left and right of the dealer. The first player will post the small blind, and the second player will post the big blind. The minimum bet at a table is the big blind. The small blind is equal to half of it. Each player can take one of the following actions during a betting round:
The Pre Flop, Dealing The Card.
Each player gets two cards when the blind betting is placed. The dealer will deal clockwise. The dealer deals clockwise with the two cards.
The players can then choose whether they wish to make a betting decision. The player who is next to the big blind begins. The first round is not a "Check", however you can make any of these: Bet, Call Raise, Raise, Fold. In order to play, each player must pay the same amount. To continue, each player must raise the same amount.
Second Round – The Flop
Dealer places three cards on the table. This is the Flop. These three cards can be used together with the two hidden cards that each player has in their hand.
The second round of bets begins for the remaining players. The second round of betting begins when the first player is left of the dealer button. Now you can check, Bet/Raise or Call.
Players must all put the same amount into pots or else they will be asked to leave.
These rules are the same for each round of betting and raising.
The Turn, Third Round
The dealer now shows the fourth community cards on the table. This means that all players have six playing cards. A new round of betting begins.
Fourth and Final Rounds - The River
The fifth and last community card at the table is now displayed. The next round of betting begins.
The Showdown
All seven cards are available for use. The best possible five-card hand can be formed by each player using the two hole cards and five community cards. You don’t even need to use your own cards. If you have the best hand, you can "play" the board. The winner will be determined when the other players have shown their cards. If a player shows their cards and you can't beat them, you have the option to choose whether to show your cards. You cannot show your cards unless it is an all-in. All cards must appear on all ins.
The Value of Starting Hands
Your two pocket cards (or hole cards) are what separates your hand from those of other players. Knowing how to play them is crucial. An ace-ace (or AA) combination has a better chance of winning than a 7-3 combination. Keep the good hands. Fold the bad. However, you can combine the good with the bad depending on where you are in the game.
