Which states have legal online casino access?

The biggest question surrounding online casino games is where you can play. Only legal states will have legal, regulated online casino. Online gambling in legal casinos is becoming more popular than sports betting or online horse betting.

The following states either have launched full service iCasino product offerings or have created the legal framework and are just waiting for the official rollout.

New Jersey

November 2013: Market Launch

New Jersey opened legal online gaming in response to Atlantic City’s faltering economy. In February 2013, New Jersey passed bill A2578 by overwhelming vote. By the end of 2013, wagers had already been placed from all corners of the Garden State.

New Jersey now has the most thriving online casino industry in the United States. There are more than twenty online casinos that offer casino games in New Jersey. There are many options, from well-established brick-and-mortar casinos in Atlantic City such as Tropicana, Hard Rock and Borgata to international online stalwarts such as Unibet and Stars Casino. There is a lot of choice when it comes to where to play and what to do. You can play all of your favorite casino games online, including bingo.

Pennsylvania

Market Launch: July 2019

After almost six years of waiting, Pennsylvania is now offering online casino services. While the state legalized iGaming on October 2017, it took Pennsylvania more than 18 years to launch its first products.

PA has many casino options. It now has more than 10 online casino sites. Online extensions allow the state's major brick-and mortar powers, like Rivers and Parx, to operate online. FanDuel and DraftKings also have online extensions. Pennsylvania's launch was slow but it has progressed quickly.

West Virginia

Market Launch: July 2020

West Virginia approved online casino in March 2019, with Governor Jim Justice (the owner of an intrastate casino) allowing the bill become law. It was not an expedited rollout like in Pennsylvania. DraftKings Casino officially opened its doors to online casino-goers in July 2020. BetMGM joined the fray with The Greenbrier, Gov. Justice's property joined the fray.

Each of five West Virginia-based brick-and mortar casinos is eligible for an online casino license. It can host up to three skins per piece. This means that there is enough space to host up to fifteen iCasinos from the Mountain State. Each slot will take some time, but WV gamblers have many options.

Michigan

Market Launch: January 20, 2121

Online casinos, poker and sports betting were established in Michigan in December 2019. However, they had to wait until January 2021 due to regulatory delays and COVID-related delays.

MI has a high number of brick and mortar casinos. In the Detroit region, there are three casinos and more than 20 tribes casinos. Michigan could have up to 15 online casinos, just like West Virginia. One partner online for each of three commercial facilities and one for each federally recognized tribe (some have more than one retailer site). Slot Machines in US Casinos
