1. Take Quick Picks

"Only 2 wins have been from marked entries where the player marked a voucher with their favourite numbers."


If you plan to run the numbers, there are more Quick Pickers that self-pickers who win lottery jackpots. Approximately 70% of lottery winners used Quick Pick to select their numbers instead of picking their lucky numbers.


2. Are your lucky number really working for the best?

As long as you aren't using only traditional lucky numbers such as seven or three, it is okay to play your lucky numbers to win the lottery.


3. Playing both 'hot and 'cold numbers

While the lottery may appear to be random, many players believe it can be increased by picking "hot" and/or "cold", numbers.


This is done by choosing "hot", more frequently drawn numbers, and "cold", less drawn numbers to test their reliability.


"We've even heard previous winners tell our team they avoid both 'hot’ and 'cold’ numbers, but instead choose those numbers that don't get any attention," stated Mr Hart.


4. Power Hit: The power of the Power Hit

"Interestingly, three Powerball Division One winning entries this year have been Power Hit entries. This is a unique entry type to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number necessary to win the jackpot," stated Mr Hart.


While the Power Hit entry may look one line on your ticket but actually has twenty games. They have the same seven numbers, and each game has a different Powerball Number from one to 20.


This means that even if your division one prize is won, you will also be able to win the division two prize 19 times. This will greatly increase your winnings.

Yet, every year millions of Australians rush for lotto tickets in the hopes that their lucky numbers will win them the lottery.


What is the secret to winning the lottery? Is it luck, or is there an "secret system" that many of us don’t know about?


There are $60 million in Powerball up for grabs on Thursday night. We spoke to Matt Hart of The Lott to get some expert tips. These include researching past lottery winners' numbers and entry types.

How to increase your chances of winning the Jackpot

1. Take Quick Picks
